Cursor and clicks

Size and smooth the drawn pointer, hide it when idle, and pick a click effect.

Open Cursor in the rail to set how the recorded pointer is drawn and what happens at each click. The page appears only for a take with a cursor track.

The Cursor page with the click effect set to Ripple
  • Show cursor draws the pointer over the footage. With it on, Size is 8 to 64 px.
  • Smoothing, 0.02 to 0.5, is how much the recorded path is eased. Higher is calmer; a small value tracks the real pointer.
  • Hide when idle, on by default, fades the pointer out while it rests.

The Click effect section appears when the take has clicks.

  • Click effect is None, Ripple, Pulse or Highlight.
  • Intensity is Subtle, Medium or Strong.
  • Colour is Auto, sampled from the frame under each click, or Custom with six swatches and a hex field.
  • Cursor press dip dips the pointer at each click. It shows while the cursor is shown.

The pointer is drawn from the cursor track, not from the recording's pixels, so it stays sharp inside a zoom and the click effect rings under it at the same level.
