Copyright and content notices

Last updated: October 2, 2026

People make videos on vosso from files they bring: recordings, pictures, clips, sound, models. They are responsible for having the right to use what they bring. If something hosted on vos.so infringes your copyright, or should not be here for another reason, tell us here and we will act on it.

How vosso responds

A complete copyright notice is acted on by removing the file from vos.so: the file itself, every copy of it the platform made, and the pictures and previews rendered from it. The person who uploaded it is told what was removed and why, and may send a counter-notice. Accounts that repeatedly infringe are closed.

A report of illegal material is acted on at once, and reported where the law requires.

Sending a copyright notice

Under the United States Digital Millennium Copyright Act (17 U.S.C. §512), a notice has to say the following, or it is not a notice we can act on:

  • the copyrighted work you say is infringed, and where it can be seen;
  • the address on vos.so of the material, exact enough for us to find it;
  • your name, postal address, email address and telephone;
  • a statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law;
  • a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act for them;
  • your physical or electronic signature.

Sending a notice that knowingly misrepresents that material is infringing can make you liable for the damages it causes (17 U.S.C. §512(f)).

Sending a counter-notice

If a file of yours was removed and you believe that was a mistake or a misidentification, you may send a counter-notice. It has to say where the material was, that you believe in good faith under penalty of perjury that it was removed by mistake, that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal court for your district (or, outside the United States, for any district in which vosso may be found) and will accept service from the person who sent the notice, and it needs your name, address, telephone and signature.

We forward a counter-notice to whoever sent the notice. If they do not tell us within ten business days that they have filed a court action, the removed material may be restored, which on vos.so means uploading it again: a removal takes the bytes down.
