Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 30, 2026

This policy explains what the vosso website (vos.so) and the vosso Recorder browser extension collect, why, and what we do with it. In short: we collect the minimum needed to run the product, we do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising.

Who we are

vosso is a platform for generated video, built on the open vos engine. You can reach us at hello@vos.so.

The vosso Recorder extension

vosso Recorder records a browser tab and hands the recording to the studio for editing. It only captures when you start a recording.

What it accesses, and why:

  • The tab you record (tabCapture, offscreen): the video and audio of the tab you choose to record. Frames are encoded locally in your browser (WebCodecs) and stored in the browser’s private file storage (OPFS).
  • Cursor position (scripting, activeTab, host_permissions): a content script tracks the pointer during a recording so the studio can add smooth cursor motion and auto-zoom. It also notes when you type, never what you type (timestamps only, no key values), so zooms can hold on the field you are typing into. Broad host access is required only so the cursor can be tracked across cross-origin frames on the page you record. It does not read page content, form inputs, passwords, or your browsing history.
  • Local settings (storage): small preferences such as recording state, kept on your device.

Recordings are captured and stored locally and stay under your control. They leave your device only if you choose to save or export a project through the vosso platform (see below). The extension does not send your recordings anywhere on its own.

The vosso website & account

If you create an account, you can sign in with Google or with an email address and password. We store your name, email address, and profile image to identify your account; email sign-up sends a one-time verification code to your address. Projects you save (“voses”), their versions, any prompts you write, and assets you upload are stored so we can render and show them back to you.

Analytics & cookies

We use strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in, and two analytics tools to understand aggregate usage: Google Analytics (pages viewed, broad device type) and PostHog (product analytics and session replay, with everything you type masked before it leaves your browser). If your first visit arrives from another site or a tagged link, we set a small cookie recording that origin, and if you later create an account we keep it with the account. We do not use cookies for advertising or cross-site tracking.

How we use data (limited use)

We use the data above only to provide and improve the product: authenticate you, store and render your projects, and keep the service working. Consistent with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, we do not sell your data, do not use or transfer it for advertising, and do not use it for any purpose unrelated to recording and editing your video.

Sharing & third parties

We share data only with providers that run the service:

  • Google: sign-in (OAuth) and Google Analytics.
  • Cloudflare: hosting, storage, and rendering of projects you save or export.
  • PostHog: product analytics and session replay.

We may also disclose data if required by law. We do not otherwise sell or rent your personal information.

Retention & your choices

Local recordings live in your browser until you delete them or clear the extension’s storage. Account data is kept while your account is active; email hello@vos.so to access or delete your account and its data.

Security

We use reputable infrastructure and encryption in transit. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data and to collect as little of it as possible.

Children

vosso is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

We may update this policy; we will revise the date above when we do. Material changes will be reflected here on vos.so/privacy.
