Edit › Cut

Add footage and transitions

Append another recording or file and choose how each clip meets the next.

Press Footage in the timeline toolbar to add a recording or a file after the last clip. Pick a video or an image, and it lands as another clip at the end of the Video row.

The Recording panel's Transition group with Slide pickedThe Recording panel's Transition group with Slide picked

Select a clip to open its Recording panel. Its Transition group says how the clip meets its neighbours.

  • In is how this clip arrives from the clip before; Out is how it leaves into the clip after.
  • Each is Cut (a hard cut), Slide (the card slides in from a side), Fade (the card fades) or Scale (the card scales and fades).
  • A slide adds a direction, ←, →, ↑ or ↓, and its seconds, 0.15 to 2. The default is 0.6.

Both moving at one boundary is a push: the clip before holds its last frame as it goes. Right-click a clip for Push from the clip before or Cut from the clip before to set the join in one press.

Each added media wears its own card. Its corner, shadow, border and browser frame are set on the Frame page while its clip is selected, over the take's one frame, with Same as the take to give them back. See Card and frame.
