The record page carries a Microphone row and a Camera row. Each has a device select and an Enable button that reads Turn off once the device is on.
Chrome asks for permission the first time you enable a device on the record page. Both stay off until you enable them, and a take with neither is still a take.
Your voice is recorded on its own track, never mixed into the footage. It shows on the timeline as the Mic row, where the Voice panel has one Level fader; see Voice and levels.
The camera is its own row too, the Cam row. Its picture is not baked into the frame, so you place it after the take: a corner, a size, a circle or a rounded shape, a border, a shadow, and a Cam move wherever you want it to travel mid-take. See Webcam.
