Record

Tab and system audio

Capture the sound a tab plays, or the system audio on a window or screen share.

previous← Webcam and microphonenextTake a screenshot →

The Tab audio switch on the record page captures the sound the tab itself plays, such as a video or an app's own effects. It shows for tab captures only and is on by default.

Capturing tab audio mutes the tab while you record. The sound is in the take, not in your speakers, until you stop.

Windows and screens

A window or screen take has no Tab audio switch. There the sound comes from Chrome's share dialog: tick Also share system audio where Chrome offers it, and the take carries what your computer plays.

The level, later

In the studio the tab's sound travels with the footage. When the take also carries your voice, selecting the footage clip on the Video row opens the Recording panel with a Tab audio fader that sets the tab's level against it. Your voice has its own level on the Mic row; see Voice and levels.
